A lot of people like Thanksgiving because you just eat and “no presents” are involved.  Some people love Christmas because presents are involved.  Well as a florist, Easter is my favorite holiday.  During the Christmas season a florist is using predominantly red and white flowers.  Then comes Valentine’s Day and a florist is requested to use red and white and pink flowers. Months and months of red and white.  Sure, there are different red and white flowers coming in from Holland and you can use berries and pine cones and different types of foliage and evergreens and and whatever…but, geez you use red and white from November 30 until February 15th.  Enough!!

Then comes Easter.

Rose and cream and salmon.  Periwinkle and violet and indigo.  Citrus combinations.  Pastel combinations.  Monochramatic.  Everything works for Easter arrangements.

And the FLOWERS!!!  There are so many varieties coming from Holland in the spring.  There are 10 varieties of sweet peas alone! Over 80 varieties of tulips, not including French tulips, frizzle tulips and parrot tulips.  There’s gentiana and godetia.  Hydrangea and hyacinth.  There’s over 30 varieties of lisianthus including apricot, two-toned and freckled. It’s spring with daffodils, muscari, iris, peony and freesia.
