This was another day on my search for a pileated woodpecker. I’m pretty sure we had a close fly by, but it was too quick before I could get the binoculars on it. Bummer. It sounded like one and flew like one. There’s telltale signs on a tree in the yard that has holes 6′ from the ground and large wood shavings on the ground. These can all be signs that there is one nearby. I can hear it in the distance, and then it comes closer, but nothing for a good picture yet.
I did get a few fun little pictures today. Two of my favorite Ohio birds, Eastern Bluebirds and Black Capped Chickadees.
